App guide cuts out the legwork in the Finnish capital
It's high summer in what Monocle magazine has called the world's "most liveable city" - the Finnish capital, Helsinki. It's also high time to visit if you haven't been there yet. The Guide Gecko guide to Helsinki App is downloadable at the link below. It's cheap, it's concise, it's well-informed, it will save you time during your visit. It's compiled by BGTW member Tim Bird. You'll find it here: http://www.guidegecko.com/helsinki-app.html www.guidegecko.com This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The skipper wasn't optimistic about seeing a humpback. We were too late in the season, he reckoned. With the approach of the wet season in the Buccaneer Archipelago, the air was sticky and the water a "cool" 29C. Then, on the horizon, a faint splutter. With the twin-engine in full throttle, we sped in pursuit. For minutes, nothing. Then a gleaming black-and-white humpback torpedoed out of the water, landing on its back with a loud smack. There is nothing like a close encounter with a 35-ton whale for an intoxicating high.
