#BGTW Chair @melissashales has 'pulled a rabbit from the hat' by announcing that the Jan 2011 AGM will take guild members to Oman. Just weeks after the British Guild of Travel Writers' well-advanced and ground-breaking plans to hold the AGM (normally attended by 70-90 members) in the Palestinian city of Jericho, had to be called off, Melissa and Representation Plus MD, Alison Rice, secured the invitation from Oman's Ministry of Tourism at last week's World Travel Market.

On Barbuda, we hike to the Caves at Two Foot Bay. A popular spot with locals for camping and picnicking, it is called Two Foot Bay because before the roads were built, the only way to get there was "on your own two foot". Visitors climb down into a circular chamber through a hole in the cave roof. I dangle ungainly, wondering if Princess Diana – who used to stay at the island's now-closed K Club – did it the same way.
