LINDA JACKSON is an established freelance travel writer who, after having lived many years overseas in Barbados, Belgium, Dubai, France and Morocco, is now based in south-east England within easy reach of central London. An accomplished photographer, Linda also regularly supplies images to accompany her writing.
Linda has had work published in numerous lifestyle titles, as well as in the national press, inflight, golf, and online publications and, as a keen golfer and member of the Golf Travel Writers Association (GTWA), she has written many articles on UK and international golf destinations. Many of her own images have been used alongside her (and other journalists') work, including in The Times, The Observer, and Country Homes & Interiors.
Linda has also been Travel Correspondent for monthly 250-page Devon Life (2000-2009), Travel Editor for KUDOS magazine during 2009, and is currently honeymoon hotspot writer for The Devon Life Bride magazine as well as for The Guide for the South West Bride magazine, and (wef February 2010 issue) main town feature writer for Devon Life. Although Linda's published features cover a wide range of topics from family theme park holidays to executive jet travel - and everything in between - she is especially interested in writing about food-related travel; golf destinations; honeymoon hotspots; "special interest" holidays (which covers a multitude of sins); wildlife; gardens; parks and natural parks; islands; as well as outdoor activities and active holidays for the over 40's. Having to cover a miscellany of destinations to feed the numerous lifestyle magazines she writes for, Linda Jackson travels worldwide, but regions she specialises in are the Caribbean (where she lived), Devon and Cornwall (where she was born and bred) and Scotland, where she regularly spends time and which is well on the way to becoming one of her specialist destinations. It was thanks to an assignment to set up the promotions department for a national golf magazine, organising mixed golf events and golf instruction days for women, that ultimately led Linda Jackson in the travel writer direction. A keen golfer, and not-so-long-ago single figure handicap golfer, Linda has played on courses around the world and written about many golf destinations. Linda can, on an ad hoc consultancy basis, offer assistance to national tourist boards and regional tourist offices with the organisation of golf press trips (from giving advice on golf itineraries and finding suitable journalists to participate, to personally accompanying golf journalists on familiarisation visits) if they do not have a dedicated department or golf expertise themselves. Linda Jackson can also assist with writing copy and supplying images for golf brochures, golf supplements, websites and golf travel guides, and is willing to travel at short notice if required to do so. With an appetite for travel and an interest in cuisine worldwide, Linda Jackson considers herself to be a bit of a "foodie" and has written food and travel features for both The Guardian and The Observer. She has nibbled pig's ears in Portugal and slippery eels in the Po Delta; dined in trendy restaurants in Montreal and through multi-course menus in Asturias; munched through healthy-eating menus in Mauritius; got bubbly on Cava in Spain; relished a cookery course in Jersey, delved into the delights of sizzling cook pots in the Caribbean, and endured deliciously messy fingers eating Arbroath smokies in Scotland.
