Discovered - some great food lurking in California's culinary desert!
Friday, 22 May 2009
Anthea Gerrie has returned from Southern California and the Central Coast, where she discovered great food lurking in what was a culinary desert when she lived there 20 years ago. As well as researching a food feature, she also visited iconic hotels immortalised by screen and music legends as well as brand-new ones aspiring to emulate them. For more info on fresh discoveries about Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, Hearst Castle, Big Sur, Santa Barbara and the Monterey Peninsula, call 01580-200574 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The opening day Media Brunch in downtown Miami was hot, sunny and very orange - a colour shared by many Guild members. From left to right: Peter Ellegard, Neil Murray, Mary Moore Mason, Simon, Veness, Peter Nunn, Petra Shepherd, and Guild Chairman, Melissa Shales. Alan Orbell and Jo Cooke arrived too late to be included in the group shot.

"Ake, his powder-blue suit immaculate and his silver quiff jauntily teased to attention, may be Finland's leading tango teacher but even he can only look on witheringly at my evident lack of tango prowess."
