Penny Watson is a trained journalist with a serious case of wanderlust. She hails from Melbourne but it has been a long time since her feet were firmly planted on home territory. Since immersing herself in the world of full-time travel writing four years ago, Penny has lived in Seville, London, San Francisco and most recently Hong Kong. While based on foreign shores she has made the most of local contacts and stories. You can mug up on her work by logging on to www.pennywatson.com.au. The majority of Penny's stories end up in a variety of newspapers and magazines, but for the sake of variety and a well-earned break she has also taken guidebooks onboard. The latest involved a month-long camping adventure in southern Spain and Italy for Cool Camping Europe. In 2009 she'll be on the road in outback and coastal NSW for Lonely Planet's Australia guide. As they say in the trade, somebody has to do it.
