Feelance travel and aviation writer. Joined London's Evening Standard in 1967 as general reporter and became travel correspondent covering industry / consumer news and writing destination features in 1972, - when I attended the first of some 30 ABTA Conventions. Was appointed air correspondent the following year and was travel editor from 1987 until 1996. Covered most major events in the industry over that period, from the failures of Court Line and ILG to the rise and fall of Sir Freddie Laker and the development of Concorde. Member of the CAA's advisory committee on financial protection for air travellers (ATIPAC). Has spoken often at industry conferences. Probably the longest serving ski writer in the UK, having visited most major resorts. Now writes frequently for Ski & Board magazine and welove2ski.com, on business travel for the Financial Times and on leisure travel - including walking - for Scotland on Sunday's Spectrum magazine.
