I've been travel broadcasting for the BBC, writing and now podcasting for more than 30 years. I'm also a website audio producer - selling more than 380 MP3 audio guides at my own award-winning website ... www.heartbeatguides.com

My basic message is this - you don't go home at night, switch on the TV and then turn down the sound ! So why in the 21st century do people still have silent websites which fail - particularly in the travel industry - to show off their ethnic music, local accents, city sounds and the overall character and atmosphere of their destinations.

In 2008 I have also provided the official England tourism website with 25 podcast city guides this year at http://www.enjoyengland.com/ideas/heritage-and- culture/podcasts/

I personally filmed and presented a 13-part TV series for BBC Choice in 2000 and added five videocasts for Torquay in 2008. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnyG2pWfpIo for a sample.

Podcasts can also be used in a hybrid way very effectively too ... a series which I made for Minneapolis in the US has been updated (as greater budgets came along) allowing them to become videos. They have added slides and film footage at http://www.minneapolis.org/page/1/mplstv.jsp

I would be delighted to hear from anyone who needs more information on the compelling medium of podcasting. I'm at UK 01239-612793 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
