I don’t hold with abroad and think that foreigners speak English when our backs are turned.

Writing a new guide to Sussex and South Downs National Park

During 2010 Tim Locke is writing a new guide to Slow Sussex and the South Downs National Park - the latest of Bradt Guides' ground-breaking series on Slow tourism. He'll be getting under the skin of the area and finding out what really makes it distinctive. The book will feature interviews with local people, options for car-free travel, pubs, places to stay (especially those with a sustainable/Slow ethos) and stories about the lesser-known aspects of the area. Very much a personal selection of places special to the author, the book will cover the new South Downs National Park (including the parts in Hampshire), as well as Brighton, 1066 Country, the Ashdown Forest and High Weald. This is a part of the world where you need to take your vocabulary several notches past spectacular; go straight past awe-inspiring without stopping; find something far bigger than colossal; and conjure up something more meaningful than beautiful. Add it all together and you have Chilean Patagonia.
